Hello Darlin'
I just love the "Love Dummy Times", & it was nice of you to mention my name. I miss hangin' out & playing some tunes with you & the guys. Hopefully I'll be walking before the end of June, then maybe we can all gather for a good ole picking & grinning. Much love to you Bill, as always!

Very nice site, easy navigation and very little clutter. Congrats.

Looking forward to 3rd Street tonight.

I remember Bill Hudson trying to organize about Festival not paying local artists. I'm sorry it failed, and perhaps it should be tried again. Should the local singer/songwriters actually form/join a union?

Until a time.

Hey Sexy!
Just read all of your "Love Dummy Times". I loved it. For those of you who haven't yet heard Bill's music, I can tell you he is by far one of my favorite musicians! I have had the pleasure of singing with Bill on several occasions, and he has honored my shows by opening for me. Bill, we have got to plan on a show together in the future! Keep writing those wonderful songs and let me be the first to say... "You always leave me, "Speechless"! I can't wait to own your next album!
I love you much,
Ms. Donna

....Energized by performing songwriter Bill Payne's entertaining set the week before..... Bill did a great job of taking his audience through his lifetime via musical chronology, and that moved me..... (an exerpt from David's newsletter, the Meadow Creek Gazette). Thanks, David!

No cute Christmas card attachment or pictures.... Just a note from my heart.

Just wanted you to know I am thinking about you during this Christmas season and reflecting back through the year and how very blessed I am to have friends like you that helped me through a very difficult time in my life.

One of the thing that sticks out in my mind that I want to share with you... While Bubber was in the hospital in March 2008, just before he left us, I took him out in a wheelchair to McDonalds, and he ate an ice cream cone, even though he
wasn't supposed to have sugar. He saw a single red bud tree in bloom. He saw a single tulip and daffodil in bloom. We went to the fish pond and saw the goldfish. Maybe such small things, but this time, to him it was an incredible afternoon with
the sights, smells, taste, and fresh air he could breathe. It was also the last time he was able to do these things. Together we cried that afternoon both tears of joy
and sadness. The reason I am telling you this, is what I learned is never take anything in life for granted. It is just too short. Enjoy each day to the best of your ability.

Here's hoping 2009 will be a better year, and be filled with good friends, success, and good health.

God Bless you everyone!!
Your always friend!!
Luan

Hi, Bill, You're very welcome. I'm glad that you could come over for Thanksgiving.
We loved your performance. Cindy said that on your first song, she had a strange
experience. She pictured everything in slow motion and observed the expressions on
every face. The children were playing in the background. Carol really seemed to
enjoy listening to you. She smiled while listening to you sing. Chris asked me about
you and your "group" today. He said that your music is his type of music. Great
performance! We appreciate your sharing your talent.

Randy Craft

December 20, 2008

Bill; Loved your review on Bebop Hoedown. After all, it was Jeff Maiden who did the percussion on my first "demo project". Those guys are great! I'll be doing some open mic's at a new place called Doreen's Gourmet on Brambleton,(don't know if you are familar yet.), but they start earlier than most open mic's. That's good for those of us who have to be up early the next day for work. Hope to see you soon.

Bill,

Thanks for the newsletter, as always. Congratulations on so many CD sales!
If we can get sales in the hundreds that's quite an accomplishment. Forget
about going platinum. I've determined you have to sell your soul to do it.

Yeah, Festival should pay local performers something. Wanda and I have
played festival five times. The last time, which I believe was in '05
someone came up and slipped us $100, which we divided among the four of us.
That was nice, but when you consider that "tribute" bands are getting in
the thousands we never could understand why locals are expected to play for
free. The "exposure" might amount to a little sunburn, but that's about
it!

Randy Craft

Bill; So good to hear from you and always a pleasure to see all the info you give us on this e-mail hit. This was the first year I missed the "Songwriters Festival" in Nashville. I know I missed alot. Hope to make it back next year. Try to catch up with you soon. Might sing a few songs at the "coffee house" in October. I'll be talkin' to ya.

Just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm thinking of you. Kirk & Maddie & I went to the lake yesterday - ate sandwiches, watched the fish nibble on bread crusts, did a little fishing, swam a bit, dug in the sand. Maddie cast, hooked, and reeled in a fish for her very first time! It was a VERY small perch, and we have it in the freezer now. The local game warden told me he wouldn't write me a ticket for the undersized fish, IF I would perform special favors for him... haha! It was a really special time, and it reminded me of going fishing with MY father years ago. I hope my daughter loves her daddy half as much as I love mine. I'd send pictures, but I managed to get out without my camera. Kirk promises we'll do it again, so I'll take pictures then, but it's too late to capture Maddie reeling in her first fish. Maybe I'll take a picture of Maddie with her fishsicle...

Much love,
your daughter

Bill,

I just toured your website. Great! You have such entertaining tunes and a playful stage persona. It was a pleasure meeting you and chatting for a spell before your return trek to Roanoke. If you get a chance, stay in touch and don't forget the fine folks and singer/songwriters at the Vinyard. I'm looking for a return visit from the Bill Payne movement soon.

February 13, 2006

Bill-I owe you a debt of gratitude, as you were hosting open mic at my first (and to date, only) open mic performance, and gave me the courage as well as your guitar to make it happen! I can't say I'm happy at all with the Thursday night changes at the Dolphin. That being said, I think there may be a couple of other joints that would welcome the occasional open mic night. As you know, Al occasionally plays Campbell's Place on Orange Avenue...the bartender there told me that she thought the owners would be open to the concept, especially one incorporating a multimedia approach-stand up comedy, rap and the like in addition to the traditional open mic fare. Another thought might be Fork in the Alley in South Roanoke. Just some thoughts.

Take care, love your tunes and presence.

Jay

It's Only Me

February 4, 2006

Thanks for your input, Sir William! I've been advised by my web host that folks with that problem are either using an out-of-date browser (like Internet Explorer or a version by AOL or Wal-Mart Connect) or they have their monitor set at a low resolution (that causes the images to be too large). Either way, it's an easy fix. Either download the latest browser update or, if your monitor resolution is less than 600 x 800, adjust it to a higher resolution. Adjusting the monitor will make everything smaller on the screen, so you may have to also adjust the default font sizes, too. Of course, it's all real easy on a Mac. I hope it is on Windows, too

Sir William

Dear Bill Payne,

While checking the performance times from the Nashville Songwriter's Festival, (a couple of my artists will be performing there,) I ran across the link to your site. I so liked it, and am very much looking forward to hearing your performance there. (Excellent job on your website, by the way.)
My name is Laura Jenney, I am the Executive Vice President of Mindsweep Entertainment & Promotions, and the Promotions Director for Marketects LLC, (which creates, produces, and markets syndicated radio programming.)
I will be meeting up at the NSF with several record company and other industry execs while I am there. We will be there to have a meeting, and to scope out talent. (I will make sure they are paying attention to your performance.)
Be sure to stop by the area where all the industry reps and artists are gathered and say hi. Feel free to drop me an e-mail sometime, so I can turn you on to a few opportunities.
Blessings...Laura Jenney

I remember when you were at Anne's that weekend and had set up in her living room..I was totally blown away with your music, not just the lyrics, but your delivery. These songs came from your heart! You actually feel what you are singing about. Thats what makes a great singer/songwriter in my opinion.
You just keep up the great work, play every gig you can get and keep writing those great lyrics. Can't wait for your next CD.
